Animal Bites

If you or someone you know has been bitten or attacked by a dog or other animal, it is important that your rights are protected. Under Illinois law, the Animal Control Act makes the owner of a dog, or other animal, liable for injuries caused by the attack. In Illinois, a dog or animal owner is often held liable unless the animal was provoked by the injured person. Provocation can be a complicated analysis and requires an experienced attorney to protect your rights. If an animal owner has homeowner’s insurance, the insurance will generally cover the animal owner for the injuries caused by the animal. However, it is important to retain an experienced attorney immediately so that evidence can be preserved and protected, and the matter may be appropriately prosecuted.
